My Dear Cousin:)
We all need to move on!
Thinking of my cousin in Lebanon. He's my youngest cousin (6 years younger than me). We don't get in touch often, but when occasionally we do, it's always nice to chat and get to know how we're all doing. He has a nice family, a sweet wife with three lovely kids. He's really a nice guy my cousin, a bit religious for my liking, but then I think he does it out of 'good habit' and a bit of boredom most of the times! He also meets friends and socialise with the families while feeling he's contributed on his weekly duties towards 'god'!
He's a kind heart and a sweet soul. I think of him and wonder how devoted he actually is to the family. He's a lovely son to his mum (my one & only remaining aunt!) who lives nearby and he looks after her all by himself most of the time (both his siblings are unreliable plus always away!) He's the one to care for her and tend to her minute needs (washing, cooking, cleaning, reading to her and making her laugh too!) Though I know they do have a maid to help, he insist on doing all the main things himself. He pride himself at being a 'good' son:) I think it's sweet, but like my dad (his uncle) he is so devoted that it makes me smile to think few men are like that!
Few months back his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. A devastating news for the whole family! Since then, on top of his daily work as an architect, on top of looking after his mum, he now has to look after his wife and three kids! Emotionally he is devastated too, sometimes he cries when my sister gives him a hug to comfort him! He dreams of my dad (cause he was like his own dad since he lost his dad - my uncle- very young!) telling him to be strong and life will be better soon for him...Sometimes I feel sad, I'm not around to help or comfort him too...
Life is better for him now, a bit brighter since his wife is on the mend hopefully and doctors are a bit more positive, though it is going to be a long road and some hard times ahead for him and the family. He's much happier these days he told me, he's just grateful for life to keep him in good health and give him another chance to love his wife and be closer to his kids. He feels it's a blessing to be given this 'gift' to be there always for his family.
Sometime I wish he wasn't so kind like this...Sometimes I wonder why do we have so many extremes in life and people who care so much get to suffer more...
Though my cousin is always smiling and in a happy mood. He keeps his humour and lovely smile when he starts with his funny jokes...and I love him for that wonderful spirit he has. He is indeed a precious treasure to his family, and a lovely man to us all:)
God Bless our Family:)
